The Sanda Tote takes its name from a place that has long been part of our family story. Sanda is the small village where our country house stands, in the quiet landscape of Roslagen on the Swedish east coast. Hidden among tall pines and open meadows, the property centers around an old barn and traditional log houses dating back to the 18th century. It has been a place where the family gathers and where seasons pass slowly. It was here that the idea for the Sanda Tote first emerged.
After more than four decades in the luxury retail business, we had seen thousands of bags pass through our stores. Many reflected the spirit of a season, shaped by trends that come and go. What we longed for instead was something different – a bag that felt timeless yet current, understated yet distinctive.
The inspiration was closer than we expected. In the woodshed at Sanda there had always been an old leather bag. Worn, softened by time, and used for as long as anyone could remember to carry firewood from the shed to the house. Its purpose was simple and clear. Its design equally so. There was a quiet beauty in that simplicity – a form shaped entirely by function. That bag became the starting point for the Sanda Tote. We set out to create a piece that carries the same honest clarity of purpose: to bring what you need from one place to another, effortlessly and elegantly. A bag meant to be used, shared, and lived with. One that feels natural whether in the city or the countryside, accompanying the rhythm of everyday life.
The design reflects this philosophy. A generous main compartment, double handles, and a detachable shoulder strap create versatility and ease. The bag is crafted from double-layered small-grained calfskin leather and finished with carefully hand-stitched details. Each Sanda Tote is made by skilled artisans in Tuscany, Italy, where traditional craftsmanship meets modern precision. The result is a piece defined by quiet elegance – designed not for a season, but for years of use. A bag made to carry what matters, wherever life takes you.
